OPENING: Samādhi, a Heart of Vibrant Silence - an installation by Nathaniel Ober
“Samādhi, a Heart of Vibrant Silence” is a musical performance without performer, part installation and part meditation. The installation displays a series of autonomous musical instruments composed of ancient and modern technologies forged together to create an environment of sound and vibration. Samādhi can be described as a state of intense concentration achieved through meditation. It is a spiritual state of awareness that can lead to control over the distractions that inhibit our connection to the universe.Nathaniel Ober is a new media artist whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally with over 40 group and solo shows. In 2009 he moved to New Delhi, India to become program director of Visual Communication and Interactive Media Design at Raffles Millennium International, later transferring to the Raffles Design Institute in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He holds an MFA from the Digital Arts and New Media program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design.
Nathaniel Ober will be hosted at ILLIO through the collaboration of Mud Lotus Sangha, the Fuse Factory Digital Arts, and the Ryan Agnew.

Mud Lotus Sangha: Deep Presence
At this month's Sunday gathering, Sara Provenzale will share thoughts on cultivating "Deep Presence." We will sit in meditation for two 20-minute sessions with walking meditation in between, and will have a period of discussion (in the Dharma-sharing style). We believe sitting practice should be accessible to everyone, all bodies, body types, and abilities. Folks may stay 5 minutes or the whole time. Participants can feel free to move in whatever way best supports their practice.Mud Lotus was formed to promote stillness, engagement, and belonging for ourselves and all beings. Co-facilitated by Sara Provenzale and Seth Josephson. Please join us.

Mud Lotus Sangha: Acting Without Enemies
On September 11th, Mud Lotus will host a special gathering to reflect on engaged spiritual action. Sara and Seth will lead a meditation and a conversation on how we can cultivate peace in ourselves so that we can relate to violence and hate in the world without succumbing to it ourselves. While there are many whose actions do harm, we need not think of them as our enemies. Rather, we can cultivate an awareness of the larger systems which create these people and within which we are also embedded.Mud Lotus was formed to promote stillness, engagement, and belonging for ourselves and all beings. Co-facilitated by Sara Provenzale and Seth Josephson.
Please join us.
