Walt Whitman wrote, “I will not make poems with reference to parts/ But I will make poems with reference to ensemble.” Using the idea of ensemble as an organizing principle, this project draws a collection of materials and methods into a conversation that probes the fragile, frustrated, and fleeting nature of communication.

SOUNDS LIKE THE FUTURE

Experience sounds of possible futures at It Looks Like It's Open, 13 E Tulane Road. In sounds like the future, Joshua Penrose demonstrates futuristic sonic constructions from the past. Ambient soundscapes extracted from old films are re-articulated in an invisible network. Move through the space and hear these physical systems that could have been.

Reception is Saturday, January 9th, 2010 from 6 to 9 PM.

Also open by appointment, contact us@itlookslikeitsopen.com.
